On the last weekend of March, a truly unique concept came to life: the Taste of Transylvania team organized the very first Taste of Transylvania Underground deep within the Salt Mine of Praid/Parajd, and we were proud to be one of the partners. The three-day event, held between March 28 and 30, was built around the fun dining concept, combining high-quality dining with entertainment at a breathtaking location.
The natural beauty of the salt mine created a special atmosphere, where visitors enjoyed exclusive menus from local Romanian restaurants and Michelin-starred Hungarian establishments – all underground. Each participating restaurant designed dishes specifically for this occasion, making the culinary offerings as diverse as the event’s rich program. Delicious bites were accompanied by jazz concerts, choir performances, and other musical acts that brought the salt walls to life.
A special highlight of the event was the showcase of traditional craftsmanship, where visitors could get closer to the small wonders of local culture, taste the products of small-scale producers, attend wine tastings, or simply immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the salt mine.
On the closing day, Sunday, Romania’s largest brunch was organized, where guests could enjoy unlimited tastings of the dishes offered by participating restaurants. This lively brunch provided a fitting conclusion to the weekend, leaving a lasting impression not only in terms of gastronomy but also through shared community experiences.
The festival offered entertainment for all age groups: a colorful children’s corner awaited the youngest visitors, while adults could enjoy special experiences in the VIP area. From the specially constructed terrace inside the salt mine, guests enjoyed a unique perspective of the event while sampling the best dishes from top restaurants.
Visitors also had access to Visit Harghita publications, giving them the opportunity to further explore the hidden treasures of the region.
